Police uses sound grenades and baton charges protesters at Shahbagh

Police have dispersed the protesting teachers who had blocked the Shahbagh intersection in the capital.

At around 1:20 PM, registered job seekers and recommended primary school teachers of the Teacher Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) blocked the road at Shahbagh. The police dispersed them around 1:45 PM.

As traffic was halted due to the blockade, the police used baton charges to remove the protesters. The sound of grenades could also be heard.

Liberty News’ national correspondent reports that after the protesters were dispersed, limited traffic movement resumed around 1:45 PM.
