Political dialogue a positive sign for reforms : Rizwana

Liberty News Desk

Syeda Rizwana Hasan, the environment, forest and climate change adviser, has welcomed the ongoing dialogue between the government and political parties as a positive step towards progress on politics, elections, and reforms.

Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Saturday (15 June) following the Eid-ul-Adha holiday, she said the current political engagement was encouraging.

Commenting on the recent meeting in London between Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and Acting BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, Rizwana said, “I find the situation quite reassuring. Political parties will now speak from their respective positions and communicate their views to the chief adviser if needed.”

When asked whether tensions between the BNP and the government over elections had eased, she responded, “I don’t think there was much of an issue to begin with. Dialogue is the only path forward for politics, elections, democracy, and reforms.”

“The fact that such dialogue is taking place is, in my view, good news,” she added.
