Interim government adviser Md. Mahfuz Alam has said that to engage in politics in Bangladesh, all forms of pro-Pakistan ideology must be abandoned, emphasizing that the unresolved questions of 1971 must be addressed.
In a verified Facebook post made at midnight on Saturday, Mahfuz Alam stated that collaborators of war crimes must apologize. “Pakistan committed genocide in this country. Even if the state apologizes officially or agrees to do so again, their local collaborators have yet to express remorse,” he wrote.
He warned against producing narratives that indirectly justify the genocide and called for an end to sabotage efforts from within powerful circles. “Enough with hiding inside the July power network and staging sabotage. Come out and be accountable,” he added.
Mahfuz Alam also issued a stern warning to what he called “Mujibist leftists,” accusing them of being responsible for past enforced disappearances and killings during political movements, including the Shapla Square incident and anti-Modi protests. “They are culturally and intellectually traitors to the July forces and must be held accountable,” he said.
He concluded by predicting the fall of these groups, calling them political B-teams and claiming that they are conspiring against July-aligned forces from within the country.
