A powerful earthquake has struck Morocco in North-East Africa, measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale. The quake hit the northern region of the country on Tuesday (February 11). No immediate reports of damage have been received following the earthquake.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported early Tuesday morning that a 5.1 magnitude earthquake struck near Ksar El Kebir in northern Morocco.
However, there have been no official reports of casualties. The earthquake was felt 200 kilometers (125 miles) south of the epicenter, including in the capital city, Rabat.
Liberty News international correspondent reports that on September 2023, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck Morocco. It was the most devastating earthquake to hit the country since 1960, causing the death of over 2,900 people south of Marrakesh and damaging significant infrastructure.
