Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas reiterated that Palestine is not for sale. He made this statement during the inaugural speech at a meeting of Fatah’s Central Committee in central Ramallah, West Bank, on Wednesday.

Referring to his participation in the African Union summit held in Addis Ababa last Saturday, Abbas said he reaffirmed Palestine’s firm stance against any attempts to displace the Palestinian people.

He stressed, “Palestine is not for sale,” emphasizing that no part of its territory, including Gaza, the West Bank, or Jerusalem, would be relinquished.

Abbas highlighted the importance of adhering to international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative as the basis for any political solution to the Palestinian issue.

The Arab Peace Initiative, adopted at the 2002 Arab League summit in Beirut, calls for the establishment of a recognized Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in exchange for Arab countries recognizing Israel and normalizing relations.

During a meeting on Wednesday with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Abbas welcomed the statement made by UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed, which reaffirmed the country’s strong rejection of any attempts to displace the Palestinian people. Abbas also emphasized that the reconstruction of Gaza must be linked to a comprehensive peace process.

U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly said he plans to “occupy” Gaza and “rehabilitate” its people, transforming it into the “Riviera of the Middle East.” This idea has been strongly rejected by the Arab world and other countries, calling it “genocide.”

A ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement in Gaza came into effect on January 19, suspending Israel’s genocide campaign that had killed nearly 48,300 Palestinians and left the region in ruins.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in November for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Liberty News’ international correspondent states that Israel faces a genocide case in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) related to its actions in Gaza.
