The Public Administration Reform Commission has proposed the formation of a ‘Capital City Government’ for the Dhaka metropolitan area, including Dhaka, Narayanganj, Keraniganj, Savar, and Tongi, similar to the system in Delhi, India.
The Public Administration Reform Commission has submitted a proposal to establish a ‘Capital City Government’ comprising Dhaka, Narayanganj, Keraniganj, Savar, and Tongi. This idea follows the example of the city government system currently in place in Delhi, India.
The proposal was presented by Commission Chairman Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury and members to the government on Wednesday afternoon. The commission’s report was handed over to the government and was officially shared with the media at a press conference held near the Jamuna River by the adviser’s press wing.
Liberty News’ national correspondent states that in addition to this, the commission also recommended the division of the country into four provinces and changes to the titles of district commissioners (DCs).
