Inqilab Mancha has launched a protest at the Ministry of Home Affairs demanding the resignation of the Home Affairs Adviser, holding him responsible for the failure to bring those involved in the brutal July killings, aided by state forces, to justice.

The organization started a procession from Dhaka University’s Raju Sculpture on Sunday. Prior to the march, a brief rally was held where they displayed red scarves, announcing they would symbolically tie one on the Home Affairs Adviser’s wrist.

The group presented a four-point demand:

  1. The Home Affairs Adviser must resign for failing to ensure justice for the July massacre.
  2. A detailed plan for the trial of the July killings must be presented by February 20.
  3. A decree must be issued to ban the participation of those complicit in the massacre in any public events.
  4. Officials who assisted the escape of Awami League leaders in Chattogram must be immediately brought to justice, and those aiding in rehabilitating the killers must be identified and prosecuted.

Spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi questioned how Awami League killers were allowed to participate in events in Chattogram, and who was responsible for attacking students trying to apprehend them. He also challenged the legal adviser about the government’s actions in the last six months regarding the prosecution of Awami League terrorists.

He stated, “We won’t stand against the police, army, or navy anymore. Every day a new issue arises, and now we have identified our ‘common enemy’—the ‘common’ civil government.”
