The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement staged a protest at Dhaka University (DU), demanding a ban on the Awami League. The demonstration was held with the coffin of Shaheed Hasan, who was killed during the July uprising.

Following the first funeral prayer at the Raju Memorial Sculpture after Friday’s Jumu’ah prayers, the procession moved towards the VC Chattar and concluded by handing over the body to Hasan’s family.

The protest was attended by the coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, DU students, and members of Hasan’s family.

Hasan’s father, Md. Monir Hossain, shared his grief, saying, “My son went missing on August 5. We searched everywhere—hospitals, clinics, cemeteries, and Anjuman Mofidul Islam—but found no trace. After five months, on February 12, we received information from the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, which led us to Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s morgue. I identified him by his clothes.”

Demanding justice, he said, “I want justice for my son’s murder. No other father should lose his child like I did. I demand justice from the government.” He also informed that the second funeral prayer would be held on Saturday at 10 am in their hometown of Bhola Sadar, followed by his son’s burial.

Abdul Hannan Masud, the coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, stated, “Even six months later, the blood of revolutionaries continues to be shed. Many are still becoming martyrs. We call on the government to permanently ban the Awami League. We are ready to sacrifice another two thousand lives if needed but will continue this fight.”

Liberty News’ local correspondent states that Hasan was shot dead on August 5 in the Jatrabari area. He worked at a shop in Gulistan’s Kaptan Bazar. His body was kept in the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue with others, and it was identified on February 12.
