Leaders and activists of Faridpur and Bhanga units of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement blocked the Dhaka-bound lane of the expressway demanding a ban on Bangladesh Awami League.
They began the protest around 12:30 AM on Friday night on the flyover bridge adjacent to Bhanga toll plaza. As a result, severe traffic congestion occurred on the road.
According to sources, a protest program demanding a ban on Bangladesh Awami League was already underway in Dhaka on Friday morning. To intensify and strengthen that program, the leaders of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement from Faridpur and Bhanga blocked the route from southern Bangladesh to Dhaka after 12:30 AM. Later, they took position at Bhanga toll plaza on the Mawa-Dhaka Expressway.
During the protest, the activists chanted slogans demanding a ban on Awami League and its affiliated and associated organizations.
Ashraf, a leader of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Faridpur, said, “We are here protesting to demand a ban on Awami League. We will not leave the streets until our demands are met.”
