Students at Dhaka University and Jahangirnagar University staged protests on Tuesday, condemning the attack on KUET students allegedly carried out by Chhatra Dal activists.

Protests erupted at Dhaka University (DU) and Jahangirnagar University (JU) following an attack on students at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) on Tuesday. The incident allegedly involved Chhatra Dal activists, sparking outrage among students.

At DU, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement organized a protest rally starting at the base of the Anti-Terrorism Raju Memorial Sculpture at 7:30 PM. The rally proceeded towards the Vice-Chancellor’s office, with spokesperson Hasnat Abdullah and Member Secretary Arif Sohel condemning the attack. Arif Sohel stated, “We won’t tolerate politics of violence and oppression.”

Meanwhile, at JU, students gathered at Bot Tola and marched through the campus, chanting slogans demanding justice. They voiced their anger through slogans like “Justice, Justice, We Want Justice” and warned of further action if student safety was not ensured.

Additionally, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) students condemned the attack, emphasizing that “the decision-making power regarding KUET belongs solely to its general students, not to any outsiders.” They called for swift justice and warned against the politicization of educational institutions.

Liberty News’ campus correspondent states that the protests were triggered by Tuesday’s incident at KUET, where students were reportedly attacked while demonstrating for a ban on student politics on campus. The situation remains tense as students demand accountability and justice for the victims.
