The first edition of FIFA’s expanded 32-team Club World Cup concludes Sunday with a high-profile final between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Chelsea at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Former US President Donald Trump is expected to attend the match.

Reigning European champions PSG are aiming to cap off a historic season, having already won the French league, cup, and the UEFA Champions League. Under coach Luis Enrique, they have dominated the Club World Cup, beating teams like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in convincing fashion.

Chelsea, meanwhile, head into the final as underdogs despite a strong season that included a fourth-place Premier League finish and a UEFA Conference League title. Midfielder Moises Caicedo remains doubtful due to an injury.

Both teams have played over 60 matches this season, raising concerns over player fatigue and extreme heat, especially with the 3:00 PM kickoff time. Still, the financial incentives are enormous, with both finalists set to earn over $100 million.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino hailed the tournament as the beginning of a “golden era of club football,” promising the competition would return in 2029.
