The government has decided to extend quota benefits in public secondary school admissions to the families of those injured or martyred in the July Uprising 2024, in addition to the children of freedom fighters and martyred freedom fighters.

According to the previous policy, 5% of seats were reserved for the children of freedom fighters and martyred freedom fighters. Now, this same quota will also include the injured and the families of martyrs from the July Uprising 2024.

A recent directive from the Ministry of Education states that 5% of seats in public secondary schools will remain reserved for these groups. Applicants must submit authenticated copies of relevant documents, such as a certificate from the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs or a government gazette confirming martyr status in the July Uprising 2024. The original documents must be presented during the admission process for verification.

If eligible candidates under this quota are unavailable, the seats will be filled from the merit list. No seats under this quota will remain vacant.

Liberty News’ national correspondent states that the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has been instructed to implement this policy effectively.
