Ramadan Special : Metro passengers allowed to carry 250 ml of water

The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTC) has announced that passengers will be allowed to carry a 250 milliliter water bottle on the platform and inside the trains of the metro for Iftar during the holy month of Ramadan.

This announcement was made on February 27 by Mohammad Ahsan Ullah Sharifi, the Sub-Project Director (Public Relations) of MRT Line-6, in a signed notice regarding the metro’s operational schedule during Ramadan.

The notice states that during Ramadan, passengers are permitted to carry only a 250 milliliter water bottle on the metro train and within station areas for Iftar purposes. However, it is emphasized that precautions should be taken to prevent spillage. Used water bottles must be disposed of in the designated bins located at platform, concourse, entry/exit gates.

Furthermore, the notice specifies that no other food consumption is allowed inside the metro train, platform, or concourse. The schedule on Saturdays, other public holidays, and Fridays will remain unchanged.

According to the timetable, the first metro train from Uttara North Station will depart at 7:10 AM, and the last train will leave at 9:00 PM. Similarly, from Motijheel, the first train will depart at 7:30 AM, the last train will leave at 9:40 PM.

This schedule will remain in effect throughout the entire month of Ramadan, including until the day before Eid ul-Fitr, as confirmed by DMTC.
