Bangladeshi expatriates sent home $2.36 billion in remittances during the first 30 days of July, marking the beginning of the fiscal year 2025-26, Bangladesh Bank’s Executive Director and Spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan confirmed on Thursday.
This amount represents a 32 percent increase — or $574 million more — compared to $1.79 billion sent in the same period last fiscal year, which was impacted by a so-called ‘remittance strike’ by expatriate workers.
On 30 July alone, $92 million was remitted in a single day.
Bangladesh recorded its highest-ever remittance inflow of $30.32 billion in fiscal year 2024-25.
