A high-level delegation from the US-based Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organization paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam on Wednesday morning to discuss the nation’s human rights landscape and related issues.
The three-member delegation, led by the organization’s President Kerry Kennedy, met the IGP at the police headquarters in Dhaka. The team also included Angelita Baeyens, Vice President for International Advocacy and Litigation, as well as Asia Staff Attorney Catherine Cooper.
During the meeting, the delegation exchanged views on the human rights situation in Bangladesh and explored areas of mutual concern. IGP Baharul Alam briefed the team on ongoing efforts by the Bangladesh Police to uphold human rights while maintaining law and order.
He emphasized the force’s commitment to transparency and accountability in all its operations. The IGP reassured the delegation that Bangladesh Police remains dedicated to enforcing the law while safeguarding fundamental rights.
Senior officials from the police headquarters were also present at the meeting.
