BNP Senior Joint Secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi expressed concern over the increasing violence, discrimination, and exploitation faced by women in Bangladesh, highlighting their growing insecurity in the country.
In a press conference held on International Women’s Day at BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi stated that, while many countries have established equal rights for women, Bangladesh still struggles with issues of gender inequality, violence, and exploitation. He emphasized that women in the country are living in a state of insecurity.
Rizvi promised that if BNP is elected, they will take significant steps to ensure women’s rights, safety, and freedom from exploitation. He also emphasized the need for a society where men and women enjoy equal rights, protection, and dignity.
Addressing the increasing incidents of violence and discrimination against women, Rizvi said the situation is deeply concerning and that there is much work to be done to ensure women’s rights in society. He pointed out the growing violence, inequality, and attacks on women in public spaces, including harassment, sexual violence, and online abuse.
Rizvi also warned that the ongoing pattern of violence and impunity is a major threat to national stability and social harmony. He suggested that certain extremist groups may be fueling this violence to destabilize the country and limit women’s rights, aiming to turn Bangladesh into a more conservative state.
Liberty News’ political correspondent states that he reaffirmed that, as in the past, women will continue to play a leading role in the nation’s social, political, and economic struggles, and BNP will always support their empowerment.
