Students of Rajshahi University have issued a 9-point demand, including the announcement of a complete schedule for the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union election.

The demands were announced in a press conference held on Sunday around 1:00 PM in the university’s transport area under the banner of the “RU Reform Movement.”

Salahuddin Ammar, spokesperson of the RU Reform Movement and former coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, read a written statement at the press conference.

He said, “Almost 10 months have passed since the July movement, yet the administration has completely failed to meet the rightful demands of the students. We are setting a timeframe to continue our movement in a disciplined and logical manner. Within this time, the demands that can be met must be fulfilled, and a specific roadmap must be announced for those that require more time.”

Regarding future programs, Salahuddin Ammar said, “If the administration does not respond, we will launch awareness programs from June 21 to 28, which will include leafleting, wall writing, and public engagement in every hall and department. Then, starting from June 29, a final phase called ‘March for Rights’ will be launched, which will include a complete boycott of classes and exams, along with field-level movements until the demands are met.”

After the press conference, the students stated they would submit a memorandum to the university administration. More than fifty students from various departments of the university were present at the event.

Their demands include immediate announcement of a roadmap for full residential facilities and the complete RAKSU election schedule, evaluation of answer sheets without roll numbers and ensuring students have the opportunity to see their scripts, implementation of 24-hour security on campus, upgrading RU Medical Center to a fully functional medical facility, bringing all administrative activities under digital/online systems, providing subsidies for hall dining meals, necessary renovations of the central library and activation of a fully functional TSC (Teacher-Student Center).
