Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Alexander G. Khodzine, held a cordial meeting with Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman in Dhaka, fostering diplomatic ties between the two parties.
The meeting took place on Thursday afternoon at the central office of Jamaat-e-Islami in Maghbazar, Dhaka. Along with Dr. Rahman, several senior leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami, including Deputy Amir Dr. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher and Secretary General Prof. Mia Golam Parwar, were present during the discussions.
Dr. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher stated that this is the first time a Russian Ambassador has officially visited their central office. The discussions covered various topics, including Russia-Bangladesh relations, financial cooperation, and the current political situation in Bangladesh. Both parties agreed to increase financial cooperation and continue regular communication and engagement.
Liberty News’ political correspondent states that the ambassador also expressed appreciation for Bangladesh’s support during the 1971 Liberation War. On being asked about the election, Dr. Taher confirmed that the topic of elections was also discussed.
