Staff Reporter, Dhaka : The Sanskaran Foundation and the BUBT Social Welfare Club provided Eid clothes to seven children, while 11 families received Eid bazaars.
As in the past two years, the event ‘Eid er Hasi’ —Season 3 was held again this year. Through this special initiative, seven children received new clothes for Eid, and 11 families were given a 7-day grocery package (including rice, lentils, oil, vermicelli, sugar, salt, potatoes, onions, milk, and various types of spice packets) in celebration of Eid. This year’s program was jointly organized by Sanskaran Foundation and Social Welfare Club of the Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT).
There are many small children who roam the streets, selling flowers or balloons. At their age, they should be focused on their studies and preparing for the future of the country and society. However, due to the harsh realities of life, they are forced to struggle for survival. To allow these children to experience the joy of Eid, they were given clothes of their choice, and their families received an Eid grocery package.
The children live in the slum area of Mirpur-2 in Dhaka. They study at a local educational institution, and their fathers are either day laborers, have passed away, or are ill. One of the participants had to leave his studies to take on the financial responsibility of his family by working at a tea shop near the Mirpur-2 police station.
In addition, Sanskaran Foundation plans to create income-generating opportunities for these families in the future so that the children can continue their education or return to studying.
Kifayat Ibne Rahman, the founder of the Sanskaran Foundation and the Organizing Secretary and Director of Operations at the BUBT Social Welfare Club, stated that through this program, the joy of Eid was not only shared but also a clear direction for the children’s future was provided. This initiative aims to give the children and their families hope, showing that volunteer organizations are supporting them and will assist them with their education.
