Sarjis Alam, chief organizer of the National Citizens Party’s (NCP) northern region, has called on Bangladeshis to take to the streets on Monday in protest against the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza.

In a Facebook post on Sunday afternoon, Sarjis Alam urged people of all political affiliations to unite under the banner of “Bangladesh” and stage demonstrations across the country in solidarity with the oppressed people of Gaza. He emphasized that the protest should not be organized under any party banner, such as NCP or BNP-Jamaat, but as a collective national voice.

“On April 7, let’s stand not for any group or political ideology, but for the people of Bangladesh and the innocent lives in Gaza,” Sarjis said. “Let’s raise our voice against the bloodthirsty Netanyahu and demand an end to the genocide.”

Highlighting Gaza’s global call for strikes, including the shutdown of schools, universities, offices, and courts, Sarjis stressed that the responsibility of Muslims and all humans goes beyond just symbolic closures. He urged students and youth representatives in every district to take charge and organize united protests.

“Though we may not be able to physically stand beside our brothers and sisters in Gaza, we can express solidarity by standing firm on our streets,” Sarjis concluded.
