A Saudi Shura Council member has ridiculed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s suggestion of establishing a Palestinian state within Saudi Arabia, proposing instead that Israelis should be relocated to Alaska and later to Greenland.
In an article published by Saudi media outlet Okaz last Friday, Shura Council member Yusuf bin Trad Al-Sadoun dismissed Netanyahu’s idea and criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump’s Middle East policies, accusing him of ignoring expert advice and undermining diplomacy.
Al-Sadoun warned that “Zionists and their allies” would not be able to manipulate Riyadh’s leadership through political and media pressure. He further accused the U.S. of supporting illegal territorial occupations and ethnic cleansing, echoing Israel’s actions.
The Saudi government also condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza, stating that Netanyahu was attempting to divert attention from war crimes. A statement from the Saudi Foreign Ministry reaffirmed the Palestinians’ right to their land, rejecting any notion that they are immigrants who can be forcibly removed.
Netanyahu’s controversial remarks, made during an interview with Israel’s Channel 14, suggested that Saudi Arabia has “plenty of land” where a Palestinian state could be established. His comments sparked outrage across the Arab world, drawing criticism from Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, the UAE, Kuwait, and Iraq.
Liberty News’ international correspondent states that similarly, Trump recently faced backlash after stating that the U.S. would take control of Gaza post-conflict and relocate Palestinians elsewhere. Arab leaders strongly condemned his statement.
