According to police, Matiur Rahman, a former member of the NBR best known for the controversy surrounding his son’s goat, was taken into custody from Bashundhara in the capital on Wednesday.
The DMP’s DB (Detective Branch) detained him and his spouse, former upazila chairman Layla Kaniz, on Tuesday.
Muhammad Talebur Rahman, DC (Media and Public Relations) of DMP, verified the information.
The ACC accused Matiur, Laila Kaniz, their daughter Farzana Rahman Ipsita, and their son Arnab of fraudulently obtaining wealth and filed separate cases against them on January 6 of this year.
The ACC claims that the prosecutions were brought after their wealth statements were examined.
Liberty News observed that Matiur gained notoriety after his son shared a picture of a Tk 12 lakh sacrificial goat on social media. Questions concerning the sources of riches were raised after the picture went viral.
