The court has granted the petition to show former Member of Parliament for Jhalokathi-1, Shahjahan Omar, Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, and DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia as arrested in the murder case of garment worker Rubel from Adabor Police Station in the capital.
On Wednesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate M. A. Azharul Islam granted the petition for their arrest.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court’s Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Omar Farooq Farooqi confirmed this information.
On this day, they were presented before the court from prison. At that time, the DB police submitted the petition to show them as arrested. After the hearing, the court granted the petition.
The Liberty News court correspondent reports that during the student movement on August 5, Rubel, along with several hundred students and civilians, staged a protest march around 11 AM in the Ring Road area under Adabor Police Station. At that time, members of the police, Awami League, Chhatra League, Jubo League, Swechchhasebak League, Sramik League, Tanti League, Krishak League, and Matsyajibi League opened fire. As a result, Rubel was shot and killed. Following the incident, on August 22, Rubel’s father, Rafiqul Islam, filed a case at Adabor Police Station.
