Bangladesh is set to begin its Champions Trophy campaign in Group ‘A’ alongside India, Pakistan, and New Zealand. However, skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto remains unfazed by the formidable opponents, asserting that Bangladesh can defeat any team in its favored format.
The Tigers will kick off their journey against India on Thursday (February 20). Speaking at the pre-tournament press conference, Shanto exuded confidence in his squad’s balance and potential.
“If you analyze our squad in this format, it is well-balanced. We firmly believe we can beat any team in this tournament. Every side has the ability to win the title, but we do not fear any opponent. If we execute our plans properly, we can overcome any challenge,” Shanto stated.
The Bangladesh captain also placed significant faith in his pace attack, a department that has long been a concern for the team.
“We have struggled with pace bowling in the past, but in recent years, we’ve found some exceptional pacers. With bowlers like Nahid Rana and Taskin Ahmed, our attack looks promising. As a captain, it’s great to see them perform. If they maintain accuracy and discipline, it will be a massive boost for our team,” Shanto added.
Liberty News’ sports correspondent states that with high confidence, Bangladesh is gearing up to make a statement in the Champions Trophy, hoping to turn potential into success on the big stage.
