The sudden and tragic demise of actress Shefali Jariwala may have been linked to the anti-ageing treatment she had been undergoing for years, Mumbai police suspect. The revelation follows intensive questioning of her family members and husband Parag Tyagi by investigators on Saturday, 28 June, to determine if the treatment directly contributed to her death. By Sunday, 29 June, suspicions surrounding the treatment had gained further traction.

According to police sources, Shefali had been following a monthly anti-ageing regimen for the past five to six years, reportedly aimed at preserving her youthful appearance and skin radiance. On 27 June, the actress observed a day-long religious fast at home. Later that night, between 10 and 11pm, she self-administered her regular anti-ageing injection. Moments after, Shefali began suffering from severe tremors and convulsions, before collapsing and losing consciousness.

Her husband Parag Tyagi, along with her mother and a few close friends, immediately rushed her to Bellevue Multi-Specialty Hospital in Andheri, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Following the incident, police conducted a raid at Shefali’s Andheri residence and seized several anti-ageing medications, injectables, vitamin supplements, and gastric pills. These items are now part of the ongoing forensic examination.

By Sunday evening, the police had questioned eight individuals, including family members. Based on the preliminary investigation, no foul play or domestic dispute was detected. Authorities have, however, not ruled out medical negligence or potential side effects of the injectable substances.

Shefali Jariwala, best known for her appearance in the music video “Kaanta Laga”, was just 42 years old at the time of her death. The post-mortem report and toxicology analysis are awaited to determine the exact cause of her death.
