Namesakes of the Sheikh family have been removed from 11 educational institutions under the Department of Textiles of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute. A notification has been recently issued by the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, changing the names.
The name of Tangail’s Bangabandhu Textile Engineering College has been changed to Tangail Textile Engineering College, Sheikh Kamal Textile Engineering College in Jhenaidah has been renamed Jhenaidah Textile Engineering College, Shaheed Abdur Rab Serniabat Textile Engineering College in Barishal has been renamed Barishal Textile Engineering College, Dr. M A Wazed Miah Textile Engineering College in Rangpur has been renamed Rangpur Textile Engineering College, Sheikh Rehana Textile Engineering College in Gopalganj has been renamed Gopalganj Textile Engineering College, and Sheikh Hasina Textile Engineering College in Jamalpur has been renamed Jamalpur Textile Engineering College.
In addition, the name of Shaheed Abdur Rab Serniabat Textile Institute in Barishal has been changed to Barishal Textile Institute, Begum Amina Mansur Textile Engineering Institute in Sirajganj has been renamed Sirajganj Textile Engineering Institute, Shaheed Kamaruzzaman Textile Institute in Naogaon has been renamed Naogaon Textile Institute, Sheikh Russell Textile Institute in Jamalpur has been renamed Jamalpur Textile Institute, and Shahiduddin Textile Vocational Institute in Meherpur has been renamed Meherpur Textile Vocational Institute.
