Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir reiterated its commitment to fostering unity among student organizations during an Eid reunion and views-exchange event held in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir organized an Eid reunion and discussion meeting with leaders of allied student organizations on Wednesday (April 9) at Forest Lounge Restaurant in the capital. The event was presided over by Shibir Central President Zahidul Islam and moderated by Central Office Secretary Sibgatullah. Leaders from more than 20 student organizations attended the program. Dr. Mostafa Faisal Parvez, Secretary General of IIFSO (International Islamic Federation of Student Organizations), was present as a special guest.

In his address, Zahidul Islam stated that the July mass uprising was not the effort of a single individual or party, but a collective movement where all played historic roles. He urged student leaders to focus on building a prosperous Bangladesh by honoring the sacrifices of the martyrs instead of dwelling on internal differences.

He emphasized the need for an immediate trial of the July killings and called for state-sponsored support for the families of the martyrs, the injured, and the disabled. He also stressed the importance of student union elections to purify student politics.

Expressing solidarity with the “March for Gaza” initiative, Zahidul Islam said Muslim youth must unite to seek a permanent solution to the Palestine issue. He extended Eid greetings and expressed hope that student organizations would work together in the future, setting aside all divisions.

Dr. Mostafa Faisal Parvez of IIFSO urged student leaders to act beyond partisan interests and avoid actions that could hinder revolutions. He added that the Palestine issue requires practical and unified efforts from Muslim nations rather than emotional responses.

During the session, student leaders presented several proposals:

  • Preserve unity among student organizations at any cost.
  • Condemn the genocide in Palestine, which overshadowed the joy of Eid for Muslims globally.
  • Urge the Bangladeshi government to issue an official statement on the Palestine crisis.
  • Appreciate Shibir’s inclusive approach to sharing credit among all organizations.
  • Demand justice for the July uprising victims and adequate government support for affected families.
  • Propose voluntary support from student groups if the state fails to assist the victims’ families.
  • Call for the formation of a platform for universal student unity.
  • Pledge to organize the “March for Gaza” program in a disciplined manner to enhance Bangladesh’s global image.
  • Express dismay over the Arab world’s silence on Palestine and call for proactive roles.
  • Demand immediate student union elections to ensure clean student politics.
  • Call for a ban on the ruling Awami League, labeling it a tool of fascism.
  • Demand justice for the Shapla Chattar massacre.

Liberty News’ political correspondent reports that in his closing remarks, Shibir President Zahidul Islam thanked all attendees and formally concluded the event.
