A group of extortionists opened fire at a businessman’s office in Mohammadpur after their demand for money was denied. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

On Monday evening, a shooting incident occurred at the office of a businessman, Monir Hossain, located at 75/B, Sher Shah Suri Road, Mohammadpur, when a gang of extortionists, who had previously contacted him, arrived and fired shots. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

According to Monir Hossain, the incident followed an earlier communication with a foreign number via WhatsApp, where a person identifying himself as Captain Imon requested Eid money. Four days later, the extortionists came to his office demanding money, and when Hossain failed to respond, they opened fire.

The building’s caretaker, Jehadul Islam, stated that around 7 PM, three individuals arrived on a motorcycle. Two of them entered the office, asking why Hossain hadn’t contacted Captain Imon. They then fired two rounds from a firearm. One of the assailants filmed the incident from outside while seated on the motorcycle.

Hossain, who was not present at the office at the time of the incident, was alerted by his staff and immediately informed the police.

Liberty News crime correspondent states that Tejgaon Division’s Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ibn Mizan confirmed the incident, stating that the Mohammadpur Police are investigating the matter and appropriate legal actions will follow.
