Two siblings, aged 4 and 6, were brutally hacked to death in Tongi on Friday afternoon. Their mother has been detained for questioning in connection with the incident.
The shocking double murder took place on the third floor of an eight-story building in East Arichpur’s Rupbaner Tek area. The victims, Abdullah (4) and Maliha (6), were the children of Abdul Baten Mia from Brahmanbaria’s Bancharampur. They lived with their parents in the rented flat.
According to locals, the children’s father was out when the incident occurred. Upon returning home, he found both children lying in a pool of blood. His cries drew neighbors, who alerted the police. Law enforcement recovered the bodies and sent them to the Gazipur morgue for autopsy.
Tongi East Police Station OC Md Faridul Islam confirmed the children were killed with sharp weapons. Their mother, Saleha Begum, is currently in custody, and a murder case is underway.
