Bangladeshi singer Mainul Ahsan Noble has been sent to jail in a case filed over the alleged abduction and rape of an Eden College student.

A Dhaka court on Tuesday ordered the imprisonment of singer Mainul Ahsan Noble following his arrest in a case involving charges of abduction and sexual assault. Metropolitan Magistrate Zia Uddin issued the order after hearing from both the prosecution and defense lawyers.

Public Prosecutor Omar Faruk Faruki confirmed that Demra Police Station’s Inspector Murad Hossain, who is leading the investigation, requested that Noble be held in custody. Defense lawyers filed for bail, which was denied by the court.

Noble was arrested early Monday around 2:00 AM from his residence in Demra Staff Quarters. The case was filed the same day by the alleged victim, a student of Eden Mohila College. According to the complaint, she was abducted, held against her will, and sexually assaulted repeatedly over a period of seven months under false promises of marriage.

The survivor has been taken to the One-Stop Crisis Center at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical and psychological support.

The incident has drawn significant attention from the public and raised concerns about accountability in cases involving public figures. The investigation remains ongoing.
