Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has assured that all individuals involved in the brutal killing of Sohag (39), a scrap metal trader, will be brought to justice.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday morning after visiting the Range Reserve Force and Dhaka District Police Lines at Mill Barracks in Old Dhaka, he said, “This incident is very sad and unacceptable in a civilised country.”
He confirmed that five suspects have already been arrested, including one detained on Friday night. “RAB has arrested two with weapons, and the Metropolitan Police have detained two others. Additionally, the DB (Detective Branch) team is actively investigating,” he added.
Sohag was brutally killed in broad daylight in front of Mitford Hospital, sparking outrage and nationwide protests demanding swift justice.
