Rumors are swirling that Rakibul Islam Rakib, central president of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), has been removed from his post due to alleged misconduct toward senior leaders.

Multiple sources within Chhatra Dal, speaking on condition of anonymity, claimed on Friday (30 May) that Rakib has been relieved of his duties after reportedly misbehaving with senior party figures. However, no official statement from Rakib himself has been made available.

According to insiders, Rakib was asked to step down under the pretext of taking rest due to illness. “He was told he’s unwell and needs rest,” one central leader said.

In Rakib’s absence, sources say the role of acting president has been assigned to JCD’s Central Senior Vice-President Abu Afsan Yahia.

However, when contacted, Yahia denied any such development, stating, “I have no knowledge of this matter.”

No formal announcement has been issued by the party regarding the leadership change, further fueling the ongoing speculation.
