A fierce dust storm followed by heavy rain paralyzed India’s capital on Thursday, killing four people and disrupting air and rail traffic across Delhi.

At least four people, including a woman and her three children, were killed when a tree fell on their house amid strong winds in New Delhi. The violent weather caused severe waterlogging and traffic snarls in multiple parts of the city, leaving commuters stranded for hours.

According to NDTV, around 120 flights were delayed due to adverse weather conditions, with at least three diverted to Ahmedabad and Jaipur. Among them were flights from Bengaluru and Pune. FlightRadar data revealed an average delay of 21 minutes for arrivals and over an hour for departures at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The impact extended beyond aviation. Strong winds knocked trees onto power lines, affecting train operations as well. Between 15 to 20 trains were delayed, further compounding the city’s transport woes.

Authorities urged residents to stay indoors as more unstable weather is forecast over the next few days. Emergency services remain on high alert.
