Gazi Salauddin Tanvir, Joint Member Secretary of the National Citizens’ Platform (NCP), has been temporarily suspended over allegations of interfering in DC recruitment and profiting through commissions from textbook paper supplies.
The National Citizens’ Platform (NCP) issued a show-cause notice and temporary suspension order to its Joint Member Secretary Gazi Salauddin Tanvir following serious allegations regarding undue interference in the recruitment of Deputy Commissioners (DC) and alleged commission business in supplying paper for textbooks under the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).
The notice, signed by NCP’s Joint Member Secretary (Office) Saleh Uddin Sifat on Monday, cited a report published on March 11 in the daily Inqilab, accusing Tanvir of violating ethical boundaries in administrative appointments and financial dealings with NCTB.
According to the letter, NCP’s Central Disciplinary Committee has asked Tanvir to submit a written explanation within seven days justifying his actions and clarifying why he should not be permanently expelled from the organization. The directive was jointly issued by NCP Convenor Md. Nahid Islam and Member Secretary Akhter Hossain.
Additionally, the letter stated that Tanvir had previously received a verbal warning which he failed to comply with. Pending the final report of the Disciplinary Committee, he has been relieved of all party responsibilities and activities.
