BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman may soon return to the country and rejoin national politics, BNP Standing Committee member Dr AZM Zahid Hossain said on Tuesday.
Addressing reporters in front of the party chief’s residence Firoza in Gulshan, Dr Zahid expressed optimism about a favourable political environment emerging soon, which would enable Tarique Rahman’s return to Bangladesh.
He criticized those who once disrespected BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, saying, “The one who mocked Begum Zia is now on the run, while she remains in the country, ready to lead the nation.”
Referring to the treatment of Khaleda Zia, Dr Zahid highlighted the humanitarian support from the Qatari government. “Qatar not only provided an air ambulance but also covered the cost of the flight, medicine, and all medical services,” he stated.
He added that Begum Zia has expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Qatari authorities for their assistance, which played a vital role in her recovery.
After receiving advanced medical treatment abroad for four months, Khaleda Zia returned home and arrived at Firoza in Gulshan at 1:25 PM on Tuesday.
