BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman spoke with injured ATN News journalist Javed Akter following his assault at the Supreme Court premises.
On Wednesday night, Dr. Rafiqul Islam, BNP’s Health Secretary, visited Javed Akter at Islami Bank Hospital in Kakrail on behalf of Tarique Rahman. During the visit, Tarique spoke with Akter over the phone, inquired about his health and family, and assured him of full support. He also promised strict action against any BNP members involved in the incident.
Dr. Rafiqul Islam was directed to take necessary steps for Akter’s medical care. Several BNP leaders, including Adviser Habibur Rahman Habib, Law Secretary Barrister Kaiser Kamal, and others, visited the hospital to offer their support.
Liberty News’ court correspondent states this attack occurred after the High Court’s ruling on a 30-year-old case related to a murder attempt on Sheikh Hasina, leading to injuries to Javed Akter and other journalists by unruly party activists. Following the incident, Tarique Rahman instructed BNP’s legal and health teams to take prompt action and support the injured.
