Abdul Momin, Bogura: For many, a father is the symbol of strength—a sheltering banyan tree. But for Taslima, a young girl from Darihasraj village in Madhupur Union of Sonatala upazila, Bogura, that tree fell just a day before a crucial chapter of her life.
Despite the devastating loss of her father, Mosammat Muslima Akter Taslima appeared for her SSC examination on Tuesday morning, leaving her father’s lifeless body at home. With teary eyes, she stepped into the exam hall at Sonatala Pilot Girls’ High School, wiping away her grief with one hand and writing answers with the other.
Taslima, a humanities student of Horikhali High School, is the youngest among three siblings. Her father, Mostafizar Rahman Mosta, died suddenly on Monday evening after experiencing chest pain at Horikhali Bazar. Locals rushed him to the upazila health complex, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The burial was scheduled for 11 AM on Tuesday at the family graveyard, even as Taslima was inside the exam hall.
Abdullah Al Masud, headmaster of Horikhali High School, said, “Upon hearing the news, I went to her home and tried to console her. She showed great courage and went on to attend the exam.”
Sonatala Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and president of the local education committee, Swikrity Pramanik, stated, “We are aware of the situation and will ensure that Taslima receives support from the administration so that she can appear in all her exams and perform well.”
