Economic Advisor : Tax authorities to include rural doctors and traders

District administrators (DCs) have been instructed to collect taxes from all businessmen, doctors, lawyers, other public and private sector employees in district, upazila, rural areas who earn sufficient income but do not pay taxes.

On Monday (February 17), after the second session of the District Commissioner (DC) conference at Osmani Memorial Hall, focusing on the Ministry of Finance, Economic Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed shared this information with journalists.

He stated that many people in rural areas are earning substantial incomes but are not paying taxes, as reported by the DCs. The goal now is to increase tax collection and revenue. The National Board of Revenue (NBR) will take initiatives in this regard, the DCs will provide a list of individuals.

He further mentioned that efforts will be made to bring businessmen who make large sales, doctors and lawyers who charge fees, under tax by implementing receipts or digital payment methods.
