What began as a quarrel between two teenage boys in Narsingdi turned into a deadly confrontation, claiming the life of 25-year-old Junaid Hasan and leaving another man critically injured.
The incident occurred around 9 PM on Wednesday (April 10) in the Binodon area of Nagoriakandi in Narsingdi town. Both the deceased, Junaid Hasan, and the injured, Masum Molla, were residents of the same locality.
According to eyewitnesses and local sources, a dispute broke out between two teenage boys, sons of Masum and Hayder, while playing in a local field. The situation escalated when the fathers got involved, and Hayder allegedly struck Masum on the head with a stick, causing severe bleeding.
After receiving treatment, Masum was returning home when he was attacked again by Hayder’s group in the Kauria Eidgah area. During the clash, locals apprehended Junaid, one of the attackers, and struck him on the head with a sharp weapon.
Junaid was rushed to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital and later referred to Dhaka, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way. Meanwhile, Masum was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Dr. Ashraful Islam, the on-duty physician at Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, confirmed that both victims suffered sharp weapon injuries and were referred to Dhaka due to the severity of their wounds.
Liberty News’ crime correspondent states that Officer-in-Charge of Narsingdi Model Police Station, Emdadul Haque, reported that the body has been sent for autopsy, and preparations are underway to file a case.
