The first congregation of Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at the National Mosque, Baitul Mukarram, was held in an atmosphere of religious fervor and enthusiasm. A massive number of worshippers from different parts of the capital flocked to the mosque early in the morning to join the prayers. The first congregation was held at 7:00 AM.
Devotees started arriving at the mosque from 6:00 AM on Monday (March 31). Before the prayers began, the main premises and verandas of the mosque were packed with worshippers. Many were seen offering voluntary prayers, reciting the Quran, and engaging in supplications while waiting for the prayer to begin. Children and teenagers also accompanied their guardians to participate in the first congregation.
To ensure security, law enforcement agencies, including uniformed police officers, were stationed at the mosque’s entrances and surrounding areas.
“I perform my Eid prayers here every year. Praying with such a large congregation is an incredible feeling,” said one worshipper. Another added, “The spiritual atmosphere of the first congregation is truly special. I’ve been attending Eid prayers here since my childhood, and I pray that Allah allows me to continue this tradition.”
As in previous years, a total of five Eid congregations are scheduled at Baitul Mukarram. The first prayer was held at 7:00 AM, followed by three more at one-hour intervals. The fifth and final congregation is set for 10:45 AM.
The first congregation was led by Hafez Mufti Mawlana Muhibbullahil Baki, with Muazzin Hafez Md. Ataur Rahman serving as the caller to prayer. The second congregation will be led by Senior Imam Hafez Mufti Mawlana Mizanur Rahman, while Chief Khadem Md. Nasir Ullah will serve as the Muazzin.
For the third congregation, Dr. Mawlana Mufti Waliur Rahman Khan, a scholar from the Islamic Foundation, will lead the prayers, assisted by Muazzin Md. Abdul Hadi.
The fourth congregation will be conducted by Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed, an editor at the Islamic Foundation’s Translation and Compilation Division, with Khadem Md. Alauddin as the Muazzin.
