Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the brutal killing of Primeasia University student Zahidul Islam Parvez in Dhaka’s Banani area.

In a pre-dawn operation on Monday, law enforcers detained three young men accused of being involved in the murder of Zahidul Islam Parvez, a student of Primeasia University. The arrests were made in the Wireless Gate area of Mohakhali based on intelligence reports, confirmed Banani Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Russell Sarwar.

The arrestees have been identified as Al Kamal Sheikh (19) of Khulna, Alvi Hossain Junayed (19) of Mymensingh, and Al Amin Sani (19) of Jamalpur. According to police, all three were present during the attack and actively participated in the killing. Their involvement has been supported by witness testimony and CCTV footage.

The trio reportedly knows the identities and locations of other suspects named in the case. They were apprehended as part of an ongoing effort to arrest all involved, including several unnamed fugitives.

Parvez’s brother Humayun Kabir filed a case with Banani Police Station on Sunday, naming eight individuals, including three students from the university’s LLB and English departments—Mahathi, Meherab, and Abuzar Giffari.

The incident traces back to Saturday afternoon when a verbal altercation erupted between Parvez and several students over an exchange involving two female students from the University of Scholars. Although the dispute was seemingly resolved on campus, Parvez was later ambushed by a mob of 30 to 40 individuals outside the premises. He was fatally attacked with sharp weapons and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Kurmitola General Hospital.

The incident has sparked outrage among students and raised serious concerns about campus safety and security.
