Police in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar recovered three bodies—including those of a mentally challenged man, a Rohingya teenager, and a newborn—from separate locations within 24 hours.
In a series of grim discoveries, Ukhiya police recovered three bodies between Monday and Tuesday. The deceased include 45-year-old Mohammad Monzur Alam, a mentally unstable man found dead near the roadside in Ghila Tali area of Rajapalong Union on Tuesday. He was the son of the late Ali Ahmed from Nanda Khali Mura Para of Joarianala Union, Ramu.
On the same day, officers found the hanging body of a teenage girl, identified as Rofika Begum, at her residence in Block S/02 B-02 of Rohingya Camp No. 20. She was the daughter of Md. Nurul Amin, a resident of the same camp.
Earlier, on Monday, locals discovered the decomposed body of a newborn abandoned near a bamboo structure in Camp No. 13. Police recovered the infant’s body following an alert from residents.
Ukhiya Police Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Arif Hossain confirmed that the two bodies recovered Tuesday were sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy. “We are investigating each case and awaiting post-mortem results for further details,” he said.
