A tragic road accident in Jhenaidah’s Shailkupa upazila claimed the lives of three family members on Thursday afternoon when a truck ran over their motorcycle.
The fatal crash occurred on the Jhenaidah-Kushtia highway in the Asannagar area. The victims were identified as Mostafa Hossain (45), his wife Selina Khatun (40), and their son Mahin (8).
According to eyewitnesses, the family was heading towards Jhenaidah town from Milemari village when a speeding truck from Kushtia hit their motorcycle. Mahin died on the spot, while his parents sustained critical injuries.
Locals rushed Mostafa and Selina to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared them dead upon arrival.
Confirming the incident, Arabpur Highway Police OC Mrityunjoy said the bodies were sent to the hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations. He added that police are investigating the accident.
