The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Thursday that all ticket proceeds from today’s third and final T20I between Bangladesh and Pakistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium will be donated to support victims of two recent national tragedies.
In a poignant gesture of solidarity, the BCB stated that the full revenue from ticket sales will be directed to two humanitarian causes: the families of those affected by the recent tragic air crash at Milestone School & College in Dhaka, and the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation, which supports the families of martyrs and injured from the July Revolution of 2024.
BCB President Md Aminul Islam, in a BCB statement, said: “Cricket in Bangladesh is more than a sport, it’s a part of our national soul. At times of grief and remembrance, we must stand together as a community.”
“The BCB is humbled to contribute in a small way to the healing process for those who have suffered so deeply in these recent tragedies. Our thoughts remain with the families and loved ones of the victims.”
The board has also extended its heartfelt thanks to all fans attending today’s match for their support and generosity.
Today’s game, beyond its sporting importance, now carries a deeper meaning – as cricket lends a shoulder to a grieving nation.
