Bangladesh’s direct path to the Women’s World Cup was disrupted by a narrow three-wicket loss to West Indies. However, the hopes of qualification remain alive ahead of their final qualifier against Pakistan.

After three consecutive wins, Bangladesh needed just one more to secure a spot in the 2025 Women’s World Cup. However, a disciplined West Indies side dashed that dream temporarily, chasing down 228 with 24 balls to spare at the LCCA Ground in Lahore.

Despite the loss, Bangladesh’s chances are still strong. They will qualify automatically by defeating Pakistan in their last match on Saturday. Even if they lose, their 6 points from 4 games may be enough to advance, depending on the net run rate and results of the final matches of West Indies and Scotland, both on 4 points.

Against West Indies, Bangladesh posted 227 runs, but inconsistent middle-order batting cost them momentum. Chinelle Henry starred for the Caribbean side, anchoring the chase with a composed 51 off 48 balls.

Bangladesh’s batters, who had shown flair in earlier matches, struggled against tougher opposition. A win over Pakistan will erase all uncertainties and book their ticket to the World Cup.
