Students of Titumir College who are on a hunger strike said on Friday that their protest will continue until a decision is made to transform the institution into a university. One student, Jahangir Sani, said they will be on the strike until their demands are met.

Although the students did not block any roads, unlike the previous day, which had caused suffering for commuters, they continued their hunger strike at the college entrance. The strike began on at 5pm on Wednesday.

Protester Mahmudul Hasan, said Liberty news’ campus correspondent that during the road blockade program that the protesters have been going from door to door for a long time to press home their demands.

“From Friday, we will not go anywhere. If anyone wants to discuss any issues, they must come to Titumir College. Here, we demand state recognition for Titumir College as a university. The state is treating us unfairly. Without consulting us, they are planning a separate university for the seven colleges affiliated with DU. We want an independent university; we do not want to be with anyone else.”
