Renowned Hollywood actor Val Kilmer, best known for his roles in Top Gun and Batman Forever, has passed away at the age of 65. He breathed his last on April 1 (Tuesday) in Los Angeles after a prolonged battle with throat cancer and pneumonia.

According to The New York Times, Kilmer had been undergoing treatment for throat cancer for several years and had recently developed pneumonia, which further weakened his health.

His daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, confirmed the news, stating, “Toward the end, he could no longer continue the fight due to pneumonia.”

Val Kilmer rose to fame in the 1980s and 1990s with his striking blonde hair and charismatic screen presence. His performances in Top Gun, Real Genius, Willow, Heat, and The Saint solidified his status as a Hollywood icon.

Despite his declining health, Kilmer made a remarkable comeback in Top Gun: Maverick (2021), though he struggled with speech due to his illness.

Liberty News’ entertainment correspondent states that Kilmer first donned the Batman cape in Batman Forever (1995), a role that divided audiences. However, by the time Batman & Robin (1997) hit theaters with George Clooney replacing him, fans had already cemented Kilmer as one of the most memorable portrayals of the Dark Knight.
