Bangladesh’s Trade Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin said the cancellation of India’s transshipment facility for exporting goods to third countries will not pose any significant problem.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday afternoon, the trade adviser stated that Bangladesh used to transship around 40,000 to 50,000 metric tons of goods through three Indian ports. “The government is exploring alternative methods, and it is possible to continue shipments without disruption,” he assured.

He added that the government is actively working to minimize the impact and ensure that export and communication channels remain unaffected.

Earlier, on April 8, India’s Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs issued a notice canceling the transshipment facility, barring Bangladesh from using Indian ports for third-country exports.
