In a tragic incident in Sherpur, Bogura, two friends lost their lives and another was critically injured when their motorcycle was hit by a truck on Monday morning, March 17. The victims, 20-year-olds Shuvo Islam and Hriday Hasan, both from Mirzapur Union’s Birael village, were returning home after taking photographs of new voters at a local school when the accident occurred.
The three friends had visited the school in Birael for the purpose of capturing images of new voters and were heading back home when an unknown speeding truck crashed into their motorcycle from behind. As a result, Shuvo Islam and Hriday Hasan, who were riding on the back of the motorcycle, were thrown onto the road and crushed under the truck’s wheels, dying at the scene. The motorcyclist, identified as Sagar, suffered severe injuries and was rushed to Sherpur Upazila Health Complex by locals. He was later referred to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Sherpur Highway Police In-charge Azizul Haque confirmed the incident, mentioning that the truck fled the scene and remains untraceable. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families after the completion of legal procedures.
