A collision occurred between two trains in Rajshahi due to a wrong signal. The incident took place around 2:00 PM today, Saturday, near the Rajshahi Railway Station, involving the Dhumketu Express and the Banglabandha Express.
One of the trains was heading to the wash pit for cleaning, while the other was exiting. Since there were no passengers on board, no casualties were reported. However, one coach from each train derailed.
Mamunul Islam, the General Manager of Western Railway, informed Liberty News about the incident. He explained that the Banglabandha Express was exiting the wash pit when, due to a wrong signal, the Dhumketu Express entered the adjacent track. This caused a side collision between the two trains, resulting in the derailment of both coaches. Fortunately, no passengers were aboard, and no injuries occurred.
The General Manager added that the rescue operation has begun, but delays in the departure of the trains are expected. It is unclear when the trains will resume their journey with passengers. Necessary actions will be taken against those responsible for the accident.
